The Shepherds Boy and the Wolf

THE SHEPHERD'S BOY AND THE WOLF

A Shepherd's Boy was looking after his sheep near a village. He thought it would be funny to trick the villagers by pretending a Wolf was attacking the sheep. So he shouted, "Wolf! Wolf!" The people came running to help. When they got there, the Boy laughed at them. There was no Wolf at all.

He did this more than once. Every time, the villagers ran up and found there was no Wolf. They had been tricked again.

Then one day, a Wolf really did come. The Boy cried, "Wolf! Wolf!" as loud as he could. But the villagers had heard him shout so many times before. They didn't believe him. They didn't come. And so the Wolf killed sheep after sheep, all by himself.

If you tell lies, people won't believe you even when you're telling the truth.
