THE CROW AND THE PITCHER

A thirsty Crow found a Pitcher with a little water in it. She tried and tried to reach the water with her beak. But the water was too low down. She could not get to it. It seemed like she might die of thirst, even with the water right there in front of her.

Then she had a clever idea. She started dropping pebbles into the Pitcher, one by one. Each pebble made the water rise a little higher. She kept dropping pebbles. Higher and higher the water rose. At last it reached the top, and the clever Crow was able to drink and quench her thirst.
