THE CAT AND THE MICE
There was once a house full of mice. A cat heard about this and said to herself, "That's the place for me!" Off she went and moved into the house. She caught the mice one by one and ate them.
At last the mice could not take it anymore. They decided to stay in their holes and not come out.
"That's tricky," said the cat to herself. "I'll have to get them out with a trick."
She thought for a while. Then she climbed up the wall and hung down by her back legs from a peg. She pretended to be dead.
After a little while, a mouse peeped out and saw the cat hanging there.
"Aha!" the mouse cried. "You are very clever, no doubt about that! You can hang there all you like — even if you turned yourself into a bag of flour, we still would not go anywhere near you!"
If someone has hurt you before, don't let their tricks fool you just because they look harmless now.
